Out with the old and in with the new – the building of a new sports pavilion at West Chiltington has begun.   When completed, by the start of the 2014 cricket season it will not only provide a wonderful new facility for the Cricket Club but it will allow the club to fulfill a long held ambition of being able to look beyond its playing membership and to invite and establish a new “social” membership drawn from both the village and the wider community alike.

The new “club house” will contain all the facilities you would expect of a sports venue but it will also offer members a bespoke, attractive modern bar together with a relaxing, comfortable lounge.   So whether you are an avid cricket supporter or perhaps someone who is just keen to support a blossoming local village cricket club we are keen to hear from anyone who would like to know more about how to become a new social member.

New social members will be welcomed at the club at any time but especially on Saturday and Sunday afternoon match days where, and in keeping with tradition, from about 4pm onwards “tea and cake” will be served. Furthermore and in an attempt to keep members informed, a regular newsletter will be distributed that will provide information on forthcoming matches, recent results and details of future events.

Therefore, if you are reading this and are interested in becoming a member please contact Victoria Hodgson at victoriah@btinternet.com asap.

The annual membership fee has been set at £10.

Finally and for those who don’t know, home matches are played on a beautiful ground set just behind West Chiltington village hall where, on a balmy summer’s evening, there are few finer places to be for an early evening drink.
