A 5¾ mile circular walk near Shipley, (the pub with a gravestone in the garden), on undulating Wealden tracks and through woodland. Good beer and excellent food. No dogs.

A 3½ mile, mostly flat, easy circular walk through the National Trust’s Sullington Warren, (heathland containing Bronze Age burial mounds) then on to Sandgate Park. Dogs welcome Refreshments provided

It’s back! The best village Festival in Southern England returns on Saturday 18th August 2018 to The Recreation Ground, Foster Lane, Ashington. The fun starts as always with The Festival Parade and finishes with a huge firework display and a disco. See you there!   Ashington Festival first appeared in 1997. It was decided that instead of having the Fun Day and the Flower Show on two different days it would be better to have one large day. All the businesses around the village was asked if they would sponsor some money for the day, I remember we got nearly £3.000 in sponsorship money which was excellent at that time. The clubs and groups of the village was asked if they would have some kind of stall to raise money for themselves and the Festival. It was a great success and now in our 21st year it has got so big we are running out of space on the Recreation Ground. We now have a large Carnival, Arena/Stage Acts running throught the afternoon and evening, lots of craft and charity stalls, sideshows and Harris Funfair which is our own village fair. A traditional, friendly british toyfair organised by collectors for collectors. Buy, sell and swap from a large range of toys old and new. Including Triang and Hornby trains, all gauges plus continental makes. Dinky, Corgi, Matchbox diecasts. Other toys including Meccano, Lego, action figures and lots more. Hot food and drinks available. Extensive advertising campaign, well signposted & free parking.
